Personal data provided during user registration, manuscript submission, peer review, editorial participation, communications with the journal, and other activities related to its operation will be processed exclusively for legitimate purposes associated with the scientific, editorial, administrative, and technical management of PRAXIS.

PRAXIS will manage personal data in accordance with the principles of purpose limitation, necessity, proportionality, confidentiality, security, accuracy, restricted access, and minimum necessary disclosure.

Information will be processed in accordance with applicable legislation and the Institutional Standards on Scientific Integrity, Ethics, and Editorial Governance of PRAXIS Publishing. Where applicable in the Dominican Republic, the relevant provisions concerning the comprehensive protection of personal data will be observed.

Depending on the role performed by each user within the journal, PRAXIS may collect and manage information such as:

Collected data may be used to manage user accounts, identify authors and contributors, administer manuscripts, select and contact reviewers, document editorial decisions, maintain communications related to the publication process, preserve the traceability of the scientific record, and fulfill obligations concerning integrity, ethics, archiving, and editorial preservation.

Bibliographic and academic data strictly necessary for publication, persistent identification, indexing, interoperability, preservation, and dissemination of the scientific record may also be processed.

Data provided by authors and contributors will be used to manage manuscripts and properly document authorship, affiliations, and contributions. When an article is published, certain academic data intended to identify authorship, including names, institutional affiliations, ORCID identifiers, and other relevant bibliographic metadata, may be made publicly available as part of the scientific record.

Confidential information provided exclusively for editorial management, including private communications, administrative documents, declarations not intended for publication, and review files, will not be published unless authorized, legitimately required, or justified by a documented editorial need.

Reviewers’ personal and professional information will be used to manage invitations, assignments, evaluations, conflicts of interest, quality control, and the traceability of the review process.

PRAXIS applies the confidentiality rules established for its peer-review process. Submitted manuscripts, review reports, communications, and associated documents are considered confidential information, and access will be limited to persons authorized to participate in the editorial procedure.

Unpublished manuscripts, peer reviews, editorial communications, ethics documents, conflict-of-interest declarations, administrative files, and other components of an editorial record will have restricted access according to the roles and responsibilities of each participant.

Information obtained through the editorial process may not be used to obtain academic, personal, commercial, or competitive advantages, nor may it be disclosed before its legitimate publication.

When it is exceptionally necessary to process sensitive information, consent documents, ethics committee approvals, identifiable clinical data, or other protected documentation, PRAXIS will apply enhanced confidentiality and restricted-access measures.

The journal will not require the public disclosure of research data when doing so could violate participant consent, privacy, third-party rights, ethical commitments, or legal restrictions.

PRAXIS will not use personal data obtained through the editorial system for purposes incompatible with the journal’s legitimate activities.

Information may be disclosed on a limited basis when necessary to conduct the editorial process, comply with legal or regulatory obligations, protect the integrity of the scientific record, investigate potential ethical breaches, or respond to legitimate requests from institutions, ethics committees, or competent authorities.

Under such circumstances, the principles of confidentiality, necessity, and minimum necessary disclosure will be observed.

Confidential manuscripts, unpublished data, ethics documents, identifiable review reports, and private communications must not be entered by reviewers or editors into artificial intelligence systems that do not guarantee confidentiality and data-processing conditions compatible with PRAXIS policies, unless express authorization and a legitimate basis for doing so exist.

Automated tools may be used for permitted technical or administrative functions, but substantive editorial decisions must remain under human responsibility.

Data and records will be retained for the period reasonably necessary to manage editorial processes, ensure the traceability of decisions, preserve the scientific record, address possible corrections, investigations, claims, or legal requirements, and comply with institutional archiving and preservation policies.

Access to information will be limited to personnel and collaborators who require it to perform authorized duties.

Users are responsible for providing accurate information and keeping their data updated whenever this is possible within the platform.

Requests concerning access, correction, updating, or other permitted actions regarding personal data may be submitted to PRAXIS through the available institutional communication channels. Such requests will be evaluated in accordance with applicable legislation and the retention obligations associated with the scientific and editorial record.

Bibliographic data and metadata required to identify a scientific publication may remain available as part of the academic record, preservation systems, persistent identifiers, databases, directories, repositories, and indexing services compatible with PRAXIS policies.

Individuals participating in PRAXIS processes must protect their account credentials and respect the confidentiality of the editorial information to which they have access. They must not share editorial records, manuscripts, reviews, or confidential communications with unauthorized persons.

PRAXIS may revise this Privacy Statement when changes occur in legislation, the technologies used, editorial procedures, or the Institutional Standards of PRAXIS Publishing. The current version will be the version published on the journal’s official website.
