Our history and purpose

PRAXIS

Dominican Journal of Health Research

PRAXIS. Dominican Journal of Health Research is a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed, bilingual, and open-access scientific journal published by Editorial PRAXIS in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The journal was founded out of a commitment to strengthening health research and the need to expand spaces devoted to producing, evaluating, communicating, and applying scientifically verifiable knowledge. PRAXIS promotes critical thinking, innovation, and evidence-informed decision-making.

From the Dominican Republic, the journal maintains an open outlook toward the Caribbean, Latin America, and the international scientific community, encouraging interdisciplinary and interinstitutional exchange across different health, educational, social, and cultural settings.

Journal history

PRAXIS began as a Dominican scientific publication committed to increasing the visibility of health research. As part of its editorial development, it progressively expanded its scope and became PRAXIS. Dominican Journal of Health Research, open to every health-science discipline and guided by scientific rigor, editorial ethics, and national and international outreach.

Focus and scope

PRAXIS publishes original research, review articles, clinical case reports, scientific essays, editorials, and letters to the editor. It welcomes quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods studies, as well as observational, experimental, methodological, diagnostic, implementation, and other research compatible with its editorial mission.

The journal welcomes contributions from medicine, public health, psychology, nutrition, dentistry, pharmacy, rehabilitation, biomedical sciences, diagnostics, healthcare management, health education, and related disciplines whenever they contribute relevant knowledge to research, practice, education, innovation, or health policy.

PRAXIS organizes its multidisciplinary scope into five broad areas without limiting the consideration of relevant interdisciplinary research:
